where a little goes a long way

Destiny Community School is situated in the compound Matero of Zambia’s capital city Lusaka. We provide early childhood up to junior secondary education to the most vulnerable children in our community. With little resources we strive to provide quality education to our learners as we believe in the power of education to overcome poverty.

our vision

Destiny Community School empowers children through quality education to acquire critical thinking, to live a self-determined life and to break the cycle of poverty.

our work

Our school provides early childhood, primary and junior secondary education. We are also an examination center for the national examinations of Grade 7 and 9.

What we currently work on

Read below what we currently work on.

Literacy Project

Created with Sketch.

Since January 2020 we are using "Letterland" as a teaching ressource to teach Literacy. The sound and phonic based approach has helped  us to improve the Literacy levels among our learners. Currently Grade 1 - 4 intensivly work with the Letterland materials and a Literacy catch-up program for Grade 5 and 6 is running. It is our objective that by December 2021 60% of our learners reach the age appropriate expectations in Literacy.

Learning Through Play

Created with Sketch.

We believe in the power of play to learn. The approach of Learning Through Play allows our learners in Early Childhood Education to learn through play-based and hands-on experiences. Our very creative teachers craft play areas with locally available ressources which make learning fun and exciting.

Continous Professional Development

Also for teachers the process of learning does never stop. This is why we continue to strive to improve our way of delivering educational content to our learners through regular workshops and trainings.
